Toasty Clips turns clips from your own Twitch channel into YouTube Shorts and uploads them to the YouTube channel you connect. This page says what we store to do that, and what we do with it.
Who we are
Toasty Clips is run by Sabaa Fatani, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, trading as Toasty Clips. "We" and "us" on this page mean Sabaa Fatani, who decides how your personal data is used (the controller, under UK data protection law).
For anything about your data, email support@toastyclips.com.
What we store
- Before you sign up: the Twitch login on the early-access list, so that only listed streamers can create an account.
- If you join the waitlist: your email address, your Twitch name, when you joined, and the affiliate link you came through, if any. We use it to tell you when your place opens: nothing is emailed when you join, and we email you once, when your place opens, through our email delivery service. We keep a record that we decided to send that email and whether it went, without your address. To be taken off the waitlist, email support@toastyclips.com.
- If you came through a streamer's affiliate link: which affiliate referred your account, and the discount on your first month (for the waitlist, the link, or both). A link counts how many times it was opened, without knowing who opened it: no cookie, no address, nothing about your browser.
- If you are an affiliate: your link's code, the share you earn and for how long, and counts of the visits, waitlist joins and accounts your link brought.
- From Twitch sign-in: your Twitch user ID, login name and display name. We ask Twitch for no extra permissions and we do not keep the sign-in token.
- From YouTube: your channel ID and channel title, and a refresh token that lets us upload for you. The token is stored encrypted.
- Your settings: how many Shorts a day, your posting hours and time zone, how your captions look, how old a clip may be to post, whether older clips are posted when there is nothing new and from how far back, whether you approve each Short first, whether you have paused posting and since when, and the cam and gameplay boxes you confirm.
- Your clips: for each clip from your channel that we process, its Twitch details (title, game, link, view count), the downloaded video, a still frame, a word-by-word transcript, and the title and description written for the Short.
- After a Short is posted: its YouTube video ID, when it was posted and its view count. Once a day while autopilot is on, your channel's subscriber, view and video counts.
- A history of what happened to each clip (for example "rendered" or "posted").
- For each clip we record the work it took: minutes of sound transcribed, title requests, rendering time, and each day the space your files take. We use it to know what the service costs.
- If you give us one in your settings: your email address and whether you have confirmed it. Which emails you switched on is kept in your settings, with or without an address. We also keep a list of the emails we decided to send you (which kind and when, and the clip numbers or counts they were about, not their text).
- We may keep short private notes and labels about your account, for running the service. You do not see them, and they are deleted with your account.
- If you choose a plan: the plan, its status and when it renews or ends, and for each payment the amount, the currency, the tax and any discount, refund or chargeback, with the numbers Stripe uses for your customer record, your subscription and your payments. We never receive your card details. For each payment we keep the card fingerprint Stripe gives us: a code that is the same for every payment made with one card and holds no card detail. We use it only to check that an affiliate earns nothing on their own payments.
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in; on our side we store only a hash of it. A second cookie lasts ten minutes while you sign in with Twitch.
What we do with it
We make Shorts from your clips and upload them to the YouTube channel you connected, at the pace you chose.
To caption a clip, its audio is sent to OpenAI's speech-to-text service. To write its title and description, the transcript, the clip's Twitch title and game, and public chat messages from that moment may be sent to Anthropic's AI text service, or to OpenAI's if Anthropic's is not available.
We use the read-only YouTube access to show your channel's name, to check that an upload arrived, and to read view counts.
We email you only if you gave us an address and confirmed it, and only what you switched on in your settings: that a clip is waiting for your cam box, that YouTube stopped accepting our access, and a weekly summary. Before that, we send an email with a link to confirm it, and a new one each time you ask for it or change the address. There is no email for each Short we post and no advertising. To deliver an email, your address and the email's text are sent to an email delivery service, Resend. If you joined the waitlist, we also email the address you gave there once, when your place opens.
Why we may use it
- To provide the service you asked for: signing you in, making Shorts from your clips, posting them to your channel and keeping your settings. This is the contract between us.
- Our legitimate interests: keeping the service secure and working, knowing what it costs, keeping our private notes about an account, and keeping a record that an account was deleted. You can object to these (see Your rights).
- A legal obligation: keeping the records of payments for 6 years, as UK tax law requires.
- Your consent: the notification emails you switch on. You can switch each one off at any time in your settings, or with the link at the end of the email.
Who we share it with
These services handle personal data for us, only to do their part of the work:
- Leaseweb, in Germany, hosts our server. The database and your clips' files are stored there.
- OpenAI, in the United States, turns a clip's audio into text. If Anthropic cannot write a title, OpenAI writes it from the same details.
- Anthropic, in the United States, writes a Short's title and description from the transcript, the clip's Twitch title and game, and chat messages from that moment.
- Resend, in the United States, delivers our emails. It receives your email address and the email's text.
- Stripe, in Ireland and the United States, takes payment for a plan. You type your card details on Stripe's own page; they never reach us. Stripe receives your email address, your billing country and what you pay.
Stripe handles payments as its own controller as well, under its own privacy policy. OpenAI, Anthropic and Resend are in the United States. Your data goes to them under their standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum, or under the UK-US data bridge where the company is certified.
Twitch and YouTube are not our providers: they are the services you connect, and their own privacy policies apply there. We share nothing with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't use your data for advertising.
- We don't post anywhere except the YouTube channel you connected.
- We don't use clips from anyone else's channel.
How long we keep things
While your autopilot is on, a clean-up runs once a day. It deletes a clip's files (the download, the rendered Short, the still frame, the caption and audio files) once the Short has been posted. For a clip that failed, was removed or never finished processing, it deletes them three days after we found the clip. Files of clips that are waiting for your cam box or waiting to be posted are kept until they are posted or removed.
The record of each clip (its details, transcript, title and history) is kept for as long as you have an account, so the same clip is never posted twice.
Sign-in sessions expire and are then deleted. Signing out deletes yours at once.
You can remove your email address in your settings at any time: we then delete the address and its confirmation links, and your switches are kept. Every notification email ends with a link that turns that email off without signing in. The list of emails we decided to send you is kept after you remove your address, and it holds no address.
Records of your plan and your payments are kept for 6 years, as UK tax law requires us to keep accounts, also after you delete your account.
Each night we keep a copy of the database, in case something goes wrong. Each copy is deleted after 30 days.
Our server keeps technical logs of what the service does, to find faults. They have a fixed size: the oldest lines are overwritten as new ones are written, usually within a few weeks. We keep no log of the pages you visit.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in your settings. It asks you to type your Twitch name first, and it cannot be undone.
We then delete, at once: your Twitch user ID, login name and display name; the YouTube token, your channel ID and channel title and the daily channel counts; your email address and its confirmation links; the notes and labels we kept about your account; your settings and the cam and gameplay boxes you confirmed; the record of every clip with its transcript, title and history; the list of emails we decided to send you; your affiliate link, if you had one; the link to your customer record at Stripe; your entry on the waitlist; your sign-in on every device; and your entry on the early-access list. No new Shorts are posted from that moment. A Short that is uploading at that moment may still appear on your channel. Accounts that joined through your link keep existing, with no reference to you.
If you had a plan, it is cancelled at Stripe at the same time, and no more payments are taken. The records of your plan and your payments are kept for 6 years, as UK tax law requires, with every reference to your account taken out; Stripe keeps its own records under its own privacy policy.
The files of your clips (the downloads, the rendered Shorts, the still frames, the caption and audio files) are removed by a clean-up that starts right away and usually takes a few minutes. We check once more some hours later for anything written in between.
What we keep: a note that an account was deleted, with the number it had, when, how many clips it had and how many of them were posted; and the list of changes we made to that account ourselves (for example a pause), with our notes and every reference to you taken out. Neither says who you were. The same goes for the work done on your clips: we keep the costs counted from it, and the record of that work (minutes, requests, render time and space), with every reference to you taken out.
Shorts that were already posted stay on your YouTube channel: they are yours, and you can delete them there. A Short that was uploading at that moment may still appear. Toasty Clips's access may still be listed in your Google Account afterwards; you can remove it there (myaccount.google.com/permissions).
What was already sent to the services named above (a clip's audio, a transcript, an email) is not taken back by deleting your account. Technical logs written before the deletion are not changed by it; some of their lines can still hold a clip's title, your Twitch login or your email address until they are overwritten, usually within a few weeks.
Your data also stays in the nightly copies of the database made before the deletion, for up to 30 days, until each copy is deleted. If we ever have to restore one, we delete your account again before the service starts.
To come back you would need to be put on the early-access list again. We would then not know which of your clips were already posted, so a clip could be posted a second time.
If deleting your account did not work, get in touch. Contact: support@toastyclips.com
Taking access away
You can remove Toasty Clips's access to your YouTube channel at any time in your Google Account, under Security, in the list of third-party apps and services (myaccount.google.com/permissions). From then on we cannot upload to your channel, so posting stops. The token we hold no longer works. You can also disconnect YouTube in your settings: we then delete the token, your channel ID and your channel title. If our access is still listed in your Google Account afterwards, you can remove it there.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us:
- for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- to correct it if it is wrong;
- to delete it (you can also delete your account yourself in your settings);
- to restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it;
- for your data in a common, machine-readable format, to take it elsewhere.
To ask, email support@toastyclips.com. We answer within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
We use only the two cookies described above, and the service needs both: the one that keeps you signed in, and the one used for ten minutes while you sign in with Twitch. There are no analytics or advertising cookies, so we do not ask you about cookies.
Your browser also keeps a few small notes for the app in its own storage (for example that you have seen a page). They stay in your browser and are not sent to us.
YouTube API Services
Toasty Clips uses YouTube API Services to upload your Shorts and to read your channel's name and view counts. By using Toasty Clips you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. The Google Privacy Policy describes how Google handles your data.
When you connect YouTube, we ask Google for two permissions:
- Upload videos to your YouTube channel (youtube.upload): to post your Shorts.
- See your YouTube account (youtube.readonly): to show your channel's name, to check that an upload arrived, and to read your channel's and your Shorts' view, subscriber and video counts.
Toasty Clips's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your YouTube data is used only to run the service for you. It is not used for advertising, not sold, and not used to train AI models. No person reads it, except to help you when you ask us to, for security, or when the law requires it.
Children
Toasty Clips is for people aged 13 or over, which is YouTube's own minimum age. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to use it, as YouTube requires.
Changes to this page
When we change this page, we change the date at the top. For an important change, we also email every confirmed address or show a notice in the app.
